I’ve lived in Richmond for about ten years now and at first, I was preparing myself to leave as soon as I could. I thought that I could be happier living in the DC area or possibly moving back to the Northeast, preferably my native NJ/NYC area or Boston. But after many years here, I’ve fallen in love with this city. It’s an enticing mix of history, small-town vibes, local pride, contemporary fashion and art, all within a tolerable city scale. I am always finding something new to experience and it seems as if my list is never-ending, between local cafes/restaurants/bars/breweries, shopping, rivers and trails, and other attractions.
Now for the time that I’ve lived in Richmond, there are many things that I still haven’t seen or done, including going to the VMFA. Richmond’s embracing of art is one of the main reasons that I love the city so much and I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to finally see the VMFA. I’m not going to bore you with a detailed description of the exhibits I saw and which works of art were my favorites, but I’m simply going to just share some photos of my favorite moments. Enjoy : )
{ pretty geometric patterns — I’m really loving the blue diamond pattern }
{ a collection of fashion sketches/interpretations of various art pieces, all by virginia high school students }
{ a shot from the center of the vmfa }
{ a beautiful pairing of blush (my favorite color) and marsala (2015 color of the year) }
{ beautiful Georgia O’Keefe }
{ how can folded paper be so beautiful???? }
{ beautiful asian porcelain bowls and jugs in cool pastel hues }
{ a giant, multidimensional piece inspired by heaven and hell }
