Summer concerts are almost required when it comes to having a satisfying and relaxing summer. I had never been to Innsbrook Afterhours until a year or two ago, but it has definitely become semi-regular for my friends and I. We saw Corey Smith last month and Chris Young last night. I’m a Northern-raised gal who is still confused by country music, but that’s nothing that a few beers can’t solve. Plus, I will die before I ever put on a pair of cowboy boots or camo, so how does one dress for a summer country concert without being uncomfortable?
For Corey Smith, I stayed true to my own personal (boho) taste by mixing patterns with a flowy silk patterned cami and floral printed cutoffs. And for boots, I wore my trusted suede ankle booties, but that is all. No more Southern fashion for this gal.
For Chris Young last night, I threw on a white crochet romper that I snatched at Marshall’s a few hours earlier. Still true to my boho side, but still summer-y enough for a country concert. I threw on a classic leather belt to add a more rugged edge, but that got old really quick when it came to going to the bathroom…
So yeah, I still loathe country music and most Southern things, but any excuse to drink with friends and relax outside on a summer night after a long week is fine with me. If you’re not into the music or the style, fake it and wear what you wear best.
