urban jungle

I just got back from visiting Virginia Tech, my alma mater (gasp) and I could not feel more centered or at peace.  Despite the unfortunate timing of so many friends studying for finals and my short-lived availability, I got to see some people that matter so much to me.  I grabbed dinner with my brother, and later saw my model/muse Claire and good friend Em at the fashion show rehearsal.  After graduating in December and moving back home, I’ve obviously been absent and uninvolved in preparing for the show, but the rehearsal itself was incredible.  I had contributed a garment that I had specifically made for Claire, but wish I could have done more for the show.  But the coordinators, stagers, models, and designers had really blown me away with the performance.  The theme, combined with continuous music and creative student designs, was executed perfectly.  Plus, the “Urban Jungle” theme gave me a reason to wear a new watercolor satin dress (complete with a tree design lolz) that made me feel perfectly earthy and edgy.

Here are a few of the photos I snapped on my iPhone.  Enjoy!

^ Funny how blurriness can really add beauty and intrigue to a photo…

^ More blurriness and fun movement captured.

^ One of my favorite designs from freshman designer, Amanda Gordon.  I admired the careful attention and the little details in her garments, like the hand-beaded trim on the hems of her dresses, the cutout backs, and the perfect seams throughout.

^ Claire making me so proud in my dress (barefoot and boho of course).  Easily one of the happiest moments of my life.

^ Sorority sis and model alum Catherine killing it.

^ Claire’s last walk, part of an incredible line featuring elegant silhouettes of black satin, mixed with worldy, heavy wovens.

Last night was undoubtedly, one of the best nights of my life.  I plan on somehow making this happen again soon.  Stay tuned….
